When you study something with your whole mind and body, you will have a direct experience….When your practice is good enough, whatever you see, whatever you do, that is the direct experience of reality.
Pure Silk, Sharp Iron
From this week’s talk by Shunryu Suzuki: Through training you rub and wash your ego and you become quite soft, like pure white silk. Even though you have strong desires, if you temper them enough, you will have strong sharp iron, like a Japanese sword. This is how we train ourselves.
